We spoke to Livia Bühler, the digital media manager of the Lenk-Simmental Tourism Board. She shared with us insights about the incredible experiences and natural wonders this Swiss gem has to offer. Nestled amidst picturesque mountains, Lenk boasts a peaceful atmosphere and a variety of outdoor activities. From hiking and biking tours to skiing and snowboarding in the winter months, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this amazing town, and that’s why we chose it to be the site of our autumn workation.

One of the advantages of Lenk is its close connection to nature. As you stroll through the village, you’ll hear the gentle chimes of cowbells, adding a touch of Swiss authenticity to your experience. The village is surrounded by magnificent mountains, creating a breathtaking backdrop, especially during the autumn season when the light paints the landscape in vibrant hues. Be sure to explore the Sibe Brünne, the source of our river, the Simme, where you can witness the water flowing directly from the mountains into the stream, accompanied by stunning waterfalls along the trail.

Beyond the natural beauty, Lenk also hosts a variety of local events and attractions. If you visit during the Alp season, you can partake in the Alplenfest, a delightful celebration featuring cow parades, a market showcasing local products, and the crowning of Miss Lenk, the most beautiful Simmental cow. For sports enthusiasts, the Hornmussen Tournier offers a glimpse into the traditional Swiss sport of Hornussen. Additionally, in December, you can experience the festive spirit by exploring the charming Christmas markets in Lenk and the surrounding villages.

To make your visit even more convenient, guests staying in Lenk receive a visitors card, which grants access to buses and trains in the area. From May to October, you can hop aboard the train and embark on a  journey to discover the neighboring villages of St. Stephan, Baltiken, Oberwil, and Elumbach. This way, you can fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the region and uncover hidden treasures at every stop. You can also indulge in the local delicacies while you’re in Lenk. Try the savory venison, sourced from local hunters, and savor the Swiss specialty of cheese produced right in the village’s own cheese factory. And with the visitor’s card, you may even enjoy discounts on selected dining experiences. Whether you seek tranquility in nature, exciting outdoor adventures, or a taste of Swiss traditions, Lenk offers an unforgettable experience.
