We were excited recently when we saw that Shift was hiring a Chief Nomad Officer. Applications for the role are now closed, but they invited people to apply to receive a US$10,000 stipend to travel for 30 days, connecting with other digital nomads and documenting their experience for social media and other digital platforms, all using Shift.

This is a dream job for many digital nomads, but there will surely be a huge number of applications for this one open position. We saw something similar when the New York Times received 13,000 applications for one 52 Places Traveler role, where they hired one man to visit 52 places in a year and document the experience.

These are fantastic roles that will pay you to travel, but the bigger the opportunity, the more competitive the role. But these aren’t the only jobs that will pay you to travel. Many companies are now offering travel or “wellbeing” benefits that offer employees stipends to travel, ensuring that their teams can afford the benefits of travel.
