When winter falls on the Julian Alps, something magical happens in the Soča Valley. The turquoise river slows down, the mountain peaks put on their white coats, and the small town of Bovec—usually a playground for summer adventurers—becomes one of the quietest, most inspiring corners of Europe.

It’s the kind of place where you wake up to snow-dusted rooftops, make coffee while the sun crawls over the ridgelines, and then dive straight into deep work with a view that reminds you why you chose this lifestyle in the first place.

And this winter, we’re heading back.
Hubs Travel is returning to Bovec for its second workation, running from January 5 → April 1, and we couldn’t be more excited to grow the Alpine chapter of our community in one of the most breathtaking spots in Slovenia.

A winter base in the heart of the Slovenian Alps

Bovec sits in the upper Soča Valley, surrounded by the towering Julian Alps and carved through by one of Europe’s most stunning rivers—the emerald-green Soča. It’s a small, authentic mountain town where time feels like it moves differently. There are no crowds, no noise, no rush—just locals going about their days, the soft hum of the river, and the cleanest air you’ve probably breathed in years.

Our second Bovec edition is built for those who want to slow down without switching off. It’s for remote workers, founders, and creatives who want to balance focus and adventure—who want to be productive but also fully alive.

Life in Bovec: where work meets wilderness

Each Hubs Travel destination is designed to make working remotely effortless. In Bovec, you’ll have a comfortable private room, a shared kitchen, and access to a cozy coworking environment just minutes from your accommodation.

€800 / month for a 3-month stay (private room + shared kitchen)
Private apartments are also available in the same or neighboring houses
Minimum stay: 1 month
Dates: January 5 – April 1, 2026

We’ve also added a special touch this season — a shared car, free for participants. It’s the perfect way to explore the valley, visit nearby waterfalls, or reach the Kanin ski slopes in minutes.

Work hard, play harder (but sustainably)

Bovec in winter is an adventure lover’s dream. You can hike in the crisp alpine air, go skiing on the local slopes, try ice climbing, or just take peaceful walks along the frozen riverbanks.

The best part? It’s all within reach. After a focused morning of deep work, you can literally step outside and be on a trail within minutes. On weekends, you can take the shared car to explore Triglav National Park, drive over the spectacular Vršič Pass, or venture into hidden valleys where you’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time.

We don’t schedule your days — you do. But we do curate the community: spontaneous hikes, shared dinners, movie nights, coworking sessions with a view, and the occasional bonfire under the stars.

A community that feels like home

At Hubs Travel, what truly makes each destination special isn’t just the scenery — it’s the people.

You’ll join an international group of remote workers, digital nomads, and entrepreneurs who share similar values: curiosity, balance, connection, and the love of nature. Whether you’re building a startup, writing a book, freelancing, or between projects, you’ll find people who “get it.”

Our local community facilitator in Bovec ensures that everyone feels at home from day one. They’ll organize intros, local experiences, and help you connect with both locals and fellow participants. Think shared meals with Slovenian mountain dishes, introductions to local artisans, or a guided hike led by someone who grew up in the valley.

It’s the kind of community where you can be social when you want and have solitude when you need.

Why we’re coming back

When we launched our first Bovec workation last winter, we weren’t sure what to expect. Slovenia was still an under-the-radar destination for digital nomads. But something clicked.

Participants loved the authenticity of the town, the access to nature, and the feeling of total disconnection from noise and pressure. They said they had some of their most productive months ever — and made lifelong friends in the process.

Bovec reminded us that remote work doesn’t have to mean bouncing from city to city. It can also mean rooting yourself somewhere real — somewhere where you can feel the seasons change, get to know your neighbors, and be part of a small-scale community that actually notices when you’re gone.

That’s why we’re back. Same mountains, same river, same spirit — just a stronger foundation and more people joining the movement.

Beyond work: the Soča Valley way of life

There’s something grounding about life in Bovec. Morning routines are slower. Coffee tastes better. The mountains have a way of putting things in perspective.

You might start your day with a walk to the local bakery, grab a burek and espresso, and head back to your desk for a few focused hours of work. By lunchtime, the sun hits the valley and the snow glows white — perfect for a short hike before your next call.

Evenings are for connection: cooking together, playing music, or heading into town for a beer at Bar Črna Ovca, where locals and travelers mingle like old friends.

Over time, you begin to notice something deeper — that balance between work, rest, and nature becomes effortless.

Our accommodation & coworking setup

We’ve designed the accommodation to make your daily life simple and comfortable. Each participant has their own private room, with shared kitchens and communal spaces where people naturally gather.

For those who want a little extra privacy, independent apartments are available nearby.

The coworking setup offers high-speed Wi-Fi, plenty of natural light, and a cozy, relaxed vibe. You’ll always find a few people deep in focus, and a few others ready to chat about new ideas over coffee.

It’s not a corporate coworking space — it’s a living, breathing community hub.

Weekend adventures

Bovec isn’t just for weekdays. When the weekend hits, the possibilities expand:

Ski or snowboard at the Kanin–Sella Nevea resort, with incredible views over the Alps.
Chase waterfalls, from Virje to Boka, hidden among the frozen forest.
Snowshoe through pine-covered valleys or hike towards the Italian border.
Visit Piran or Lake Bled for a spontaneous road trip with your fellow hubbers.

And if you just want to rest, you can always stay in town, visit a local spa, or watch the snow fall from your window.

A new chapter for Hubs Travel

This Bovec edition is part of our wider European journey. Over the past year, Hubs Travel has been growing a network of seasonal and year-round workations across Europe — from Norway to the French Riviera, the Swiss Alps, and the Adriatic coast.

The idea is simple: to make remote work more human, and to revitalize local communities by bringing remote workers where tourism usually stops in winter.

Each hub contributes to the local economy, connects with local initiatives, and helps fight seasonality — all while offering participants an unforgettable experience.

Bovec represents everything we love about this mission: authenticity, nature, and the balance between solitude and connection.
